Terror Incognita sees the JLA face the threat of the White Martians once more, putting not just the team, but the world in real jeopardy. Freed from their psychic imprisonment the Martians are quick to move behind the scenes, creating a plan to neutralise the JLA, whilst seeking to ensure their invincibility by blocking the ability to create fire on Earth. The odds are therefore stacked up extraordinarily against them, seeing the JLA stand alone against an entire race of telepathic shape-shifters. Can the JLA prevent the Martians from decimating the world, and is this another great story to end Waid’s run on the title?

Volume 4 of JLA sees no overall storyline but four two parter stories, and Mark Waid takes over writing duties for four issues. In light of the team’s disbandment last volume, we see the newly reformed and expanded JLA take on an array of threats, ranging from an attack from Prometheus to the unravelling rules of probability.

The main question however is does this volume suffer due to the split writing duties?
