I wonder how people felt about this

What do you mean?

Man of Steel was the big post-crisis Superman reboot. It changed Superman’s powers, his backstory, his entire cast, his personality as well as his villains. It turned Superman into what we know him as today.

Probably the similarly, however, I think the changes being made now are really just…why?Wasn’t part of this post crisis reboot to make Superman more relatable instead of less like the new one is doing?

While I think that the changes made this time around were mostly due to losing a court case, I think the intention was very much the opposite of what you perceive it to be. The honest truth is, not many people related to Superman, they thought he was boring. People don’t think they can relate to a guy in red trunks, who is “perfect”. I know this for a fact, because thats exactly how my girlfriend feels. While I disagree with them  (and her) entirely, this is a very clearcut way to get more people to relate to him. People can more easily relate to someone who “broods”. Also, his powers are being similarly decreased.

I’ve never really seen why people want to relate to Superman as such. For me, he’s more of an aspirational character. I think Morrison captured him perfectly for me with All-Star Superman - which is why I’m really looking forward to the new Action Comics.

Trust me, thats how I feel. But that isn’t enough for some people. Seriously, I just a few days ago had this argument with her. She loves Lex Luthor more because he is more “interesting” than a guy who “can’t do wrong”. It isn’t enough that he is an icon, he needs to be (more) flawed.

I can see why people think that, but I think it’s a bit unfair. Lex has been evil for the sake of the story quite a few times.
I guess you just need a writer behind Superman who will explore the character some more or put him in amazing situations in order to show the doubters just how great he can be.
Either that, or hand them All-Star Superman.

Manapul will still be on The Flash?

Yes!

tychokepler:

Think about it

I could buy Supes as being Conner - he looks like the youngest member of the team there. That’s the only one.
The Flash is Barry too - unless Wally’s eyes have gone back to being blue again. Possible I guess/colouring error.
Edit - I can’t believe I spelt Conner’s name wrong. It was right there on the picture lol.

More September Reboot Rumors: One I feared and one I predicted

dcwomenkickingass:

Bleeding Cool reporting what I feared yesterday and brings something I predicted weeks ago closer to fruition.

September brings Batgirl #1 starring Barbara Gordon. And Nightwing #1. Don’t know if it is Dick so I’ll wait to claim that one.

That first one I think may be the end for me.

Ok, this has pretty much confirmed it for me - this is a year long gimmick like Marvel’s Heroes Reborn.

Please?

I mean, it’s either that, or we’re making progress by going backwards.

Which nobody wants.

Nobody.
